Miami Beach, Florida, USA – The eighth edition of Art Basel Miami Beach closed on Sunday, December 6, 2009. More than 250 galleries from North America, Europe, Latin America, Asia and Africa exhibited works by over 2,000 artists. With a program of special exhibitions, panel discussions, private collection tours, and events featuring film, performance, and video, the show attracted 42,000 visitors.

Art Projects, curated this year for the first time by Patrick Charpenel of Guadalajara, Mexico, features 13 projects by internationally renowned artists from seven countries. The projects will be installed in the outdoor public spaces of Miami Beach, within close proximity to the Oceanfront area and the Miami Beach Convention Center.

From December 3 through 6, 2009, Miami Beach, Florida, will be home to the 8th edition of Art Basel Miami Beach, the international art show. More than 250 leading galleries from North America, Europe, Latin America, Asia and Africa will take part.

Art Basel Conversations
By staging public encounters between leading cultural figures, the morning Art Basel Conversations offer the audience of Art Basel Miami Beach access to first-hand information on important aspects of the international artworld.

Art Salon
Taking place in the afternoon within the central area of the Miami Beach Convention Center, Art Salon is an open platform for discussion with an emphasis on current themes in contemporary art.

The new Oceanfront area in Collins Park has been created as a platform for virtually all of
Art Basel Miami Beach’s cultural programming. Situated directly beside the beach, the Oceanfront marks the point where the artworld interfaces with the broader public.

In Art Nova, the galleries of Art Basel Miami Beach present new works, produced in the last two years, by a maximum of three artists. 64 international galleries have been chosen for the sector this year by the Selection Committee, and works by more than 130 artists from around the globe are on display.

This year’s Art Kabinett program at Art Basel Miami Beach 2009, December 3 – 6, 2009 promises to be an exciting mix of tightly focused exhibitions within the show, including thematic group exhibitions and solo shows from both emerging artists and historical figures.

Formerly located at Collins Park in shipping containers, Art Positions will now comprise of booths situated in the center of the Art Basel Miami Beach exhibition halls. The sector presents 23 young galleries from 9 different countries, showcasing cut­ting-edge projects by single artists and conceptual group shows.
