September 2005, Birch Libralato opened its impressive new 2,800
square foot space with two large gallery spaces, in one of Toronto’s
most exciting and busy art districts, Queen Street West.
Gallery program includes emerging and mid-career, Canadian and
Internationally based and exhibiting con-temporary artists, some of
which have been with the gallery for over 15 years. Luis Jacob (Peru
born, Cdn based; documenta 12, 2007), Euan Macdonald (Scottish
born, LA based, Kunstverein Nürnberg), Micah Lexier (Cdn born,
NYC based; traveling Cdn museum show), Wanda Koop (Cdn born
; Venice 2001, Order of Canada 2006), Charles Goldman (USA,
Altria @ Whitney Museum 2007), Toni Hafkenscheid (Dutch born,
Cdn based), Ed Pien (Taiwanese, Cdn based, museum shows USA,
France, U.K.), Kelly Richardson (Cdn born, U.K. based; Hirshhorn
2008), Shaan Syed (Cdn born, U.K. based; Celeste Art Prize).
Regular programming is supplemented by invited artists and guest
curated special exhibitions including 2007 exhibitions with inter-
national artists David Altmejd, Renate Anger, Eric Cameron, Ingo
Gerken, and Evan Penny.
